Spiral was established in 1998 with a vision to transform the oil industry’s use of software, providing innovative capabilities which help our clients make the most efficient use of every drop of crude oil. Since then, Spiral has gone from strength to strength and we were honoured to receive the Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2012. Spiral is now part of Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management.
As part of the Schneider Electric Software organisation, Spiral has a strong development and technology focus, with over two thirds of our staff in software development roles. We provide industry-leading technology for the process industries, focusing in particular on the oil and petrochemicals sector. We are committed to maintaining and building our technology lead making significant investments into research and development each year.
We have a proven track record of working with our clients to push the knowledge envelope of their industry, identifying how new technologies can help them improve performance and efficiency. By bringing modern mathematics and information technology to bear, over the past 17 years we have changed the perspective of the industry on how to process crude oil. Our software now plays a key business role for over 100 client companies across more than 350 sites worldwide—including all of the oil majors.
Our supply chain toolset, launched in 2010, expands the scope of our tools into a much broader market encompassing planning, scheduling and logistics optimization. A strong development roadmap will continue to extend the end-to-end toolset capabilities as well as addressing other process industries, such as food & beverage, chemicals, mining and pharmaceuticals.
Spiral tools run complex and computationally-demanding mathematical models to predict the behaviour of industry processes. The emphasis is on developing robust, highly optimised and scalable solutions offering flexibility across desktop, web, mobile and programmatic interfaces. Typically, global implementations of our tools span hundreds of users across an organisation. Support for thin client and cloud-based implementations allows client companies to minimise implementation costs while maintaining high performance with granular control over access to data and services.
